We learn this week that foreign nationals visiting Seychelles are being advised that they are now obliged to pay for food and beverages consumed in any restaurant located outside a hotel, in foreign exchange.
Foreign nationals are also reminded that payment for the following services: car hire, boat charter, ferry or air transportation, fishing, diving and all excursions offered by local companies, board and lodging and all services provided by hotels and other accommodation establishments and entrance fees for reserves and marine parks, must also be paid in foreign exchange. Visitor arrivals to Seychelles so far this year have exceeded the 2006 record figure of 140,627, officially making 2007 the third consecutive year in which arrival numbers have increased.
By mid November some 141,932 visitors have arrived in Seychelles, an increase of 14 percent over 2006’s record levels – and with bookings towards the Christmas and the New Year period running ahead of last year also, the final percentage increase will certainly be higher. (more…)
For the third consecutive year, Seychelles has been named as the best island destination thoughout Africa and the Middle East by the widely read Travel and Leisure Magazine.
Travel and Leisure’s annual World’s Best Awards, which were released in the magazine’s August 2007 issue, recognises the best hotels, cities and islands, cruises and airlines in the world as determined by Travel and Leisure readers.
“Should we split our holiday in Seychelles over more than one Island or settle in just one hotel” - a question that I am asked over and over.
My immediate reaction in the past has always been a quite emphatic “ Yes!” – it seems such a waste to travel so far (from Europe, Australia or the Americas) and not make time to see some thing other than the resort you first dreamt of. (more…)
