We learn this week that foreign nationals visiting Seychelles are being advised that they are now obliged to pay for food and beverages consumed in any restaurant located outside a hotel, in foreign exchange.

Foreign nationals are also reminded that payment for the following services: car hire, boat charter, ferry or air transportation, fishing, diving and all excursions offered by local companies, board and lodging and all services provided by hotels and other accommodation establishments and entrance fees for reserves and marine parks, must also be paid in foreign exchange. Visitor arrivals to Seychelles so far this year have exceeded the 2006 record figure of 140,627, officially making 2007 the third consecutive year in which arrival numbers have increased.

By mid November some 141,932 visitors have arrived in Seychelles, an increase of 14 percent over 2006?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s record levels ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú and with bookings towards the Christmas and the New Year period running ahead of last year also, the final percentage increase will certainly be higher. (more…)
